Are you a fiduciary, and what does that mean for me?
Yes. As an investment adviser, we have a fiduciary duty to act in your best interest. That includes a duty of care and a duty of loyalty, and an obligation to disclose material conflicts of interest. Additional details are provided in our Form ADV.
How often will we meet or communicate, and what does ongoing service look like?
Some advisors check in once a year. Others stay closely involved throughout your journey. Ask what to expect so you know how proactive your advisor will be. At Beacon Light Wealth Management, we believe in consistent communication and regular check-ins to make sure your plan stays on track as life changes.
What services do you provide beyond investment management?
True financial planning is much broader than picking investments. It should include retirement income strategies, tax planning, insurance analysis, estate planning coordination, and more. At Beacon Light Wealth Management, our work seeks to touch every part of your financial life — helping you make confident decisions now and in the future.
How do you measure success in our relationship?
It’s important to know how an advisor defines success. Is it beating a benchmark or helping you live the life you want? We believe success is measured by the clarity, confidence, and progress you feel, not just by numbers on a statement.
Who is your typical client, and do you have experience with people like me?
An advisor who deeply understands your stage of life, profession, or financial complexity can deliver far better advice. Though not exclusively, our team primarily serves retirees and near-retirees, physicians and healthcare professionals, and business owners or corporate leaders.
How do you get paid, and are there any hidden costs?
Understanding how your advisor is compensated helps you spot potential conflicts of interest. Ask whether they’re paid by fees, commissions, or a mix of both — and whether you’ll see all costs clearly before you commit. At Beacon Light Wealth Management, we believe transparency builds trust. You’ll always know exactly how we’re paid and what you’re paying for.
How will you tailor your advice to my goals and values?
Cookie-cutter plans rarely lead to lasting success. Your advisor should take the time to understand what matters most to you and build a plan around it. At Beacon Light Wealth Management, every plan is custom-built to reflect your priorities, your lifestyle, and your definition of success.
How will you coordinate with my tax and legal professionals?
Your financial life doesn’t exist in silos. While we don’t provide legal or tax advice, we will work hand-in-hand with CPAs, attorneys, and other professionals to ensure your plan is cohesive and efficient. We regularly collaborate with your broader team to help you make smarter decisions and avoid costly mistakes.
How will you help reduce my taxes over time?
Taxes can erode wealth faster than many people realize. Your advisor should have strategies to reduce your tax burden both now and in the future. We work to help you keep more of what you earn through thoughtful planning — from tax-efficient withdrawals and Roth conversions to strategic charitable giving and beyond.
How do you approach risk and protecting my wealth?
A great plan isn’t just about growth — it’s about protection. Ask how your advisor helps you manage risks like market volatility, unexpected health events, or premature death. Our planning process includes careful risk management and insurance strategies aimed to safeguard what you’ve worked hard to build.
Do you offer insurance products?
Beacon Light Wealth Management does not offer insurance, however certain supervised persons are licensed insurance agents and may recommend insurance products offered by unaffiliated insurance carriers. In such cases, these individuals may receive traditional commissions and other compensation in their capacity as insurance agents. Clients are under no obligation to purchase any recommended insurance through us or our supervised persons.
Do you have a business continuity plan?
You want to know that your plan won’t fall apart if your advisor retires, changes careers, or is unavailable. Ask about their continuity plan and support structure. At Beacon Light Wealth Management, your financial future is supported by a dedicated team and built-in succession planning.
What technology and tools will I have access to?
Visibility and simplicity matter. Ask how you’ll track your progress and access your financial information. We provide intuitive tools and secure technology that keep you informed, involved, and connected to your plan. You will have access to a Beacon Light Wealth Management client portal/app, your own Schwab profile, and receive annual planning analyses.
